A new whisky to Canada, the Glen Grant 18 year old has been available in limited release for just over one year—a bit of a surprise, considering Glen Grant has the distinction of being one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries (founded in 1840) and is one of the biggest selling single malts on the planet. All things come to those who wait.
This single malt has a bright golden colour, a characteristic of an innovative distillation process that creates a clear and light spirit that is aged for 18 years in oak casks.
The aroma of this whisky is very floral and sweet, like a perfectly ripe fruit, no hint of peat or smoke. The drink is smooth and delicate with notes of caramel and vanilla. The finish is long and once again, the influence of the barley sugars is apparent.
I highly recommend acquiring a bottle of the Glen Grant 18 Year Old. It is far more special than it appears. Best enjoyed neat as an aperitif. About $190.00
