Here, the lowdown on two of the breweries she recommends:
Cannery Brewing Company (Penticton) – One of the first craft breweries on the scene in British Columbia. “We were lonely missionaries,” Cannery Brewery co-owner Patt Dyck told Cockrall-King about those early days.
But, Cockrall-King notes in her new book, they’ve now built “a loyal following for their unpasteurized, unfiltered craft beers that don’t shy away from big flavours.” And of course, there are myriad other breweries to be found in the valley.
Tree Brewing Beer Institute (Kelowna) — “The Beer Institute is not only a working brewery, but also tasting lounge with delicious menu items like pretzels, which incorporate spent grains from the brewing process and are served with ale honey mustard,” Cockrall-King writes in her new book.
