Sometimes, I think, Pinot Blanc gets overlooked in favour of other whites such as Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio, Riesling or even Chardonnay.
That's a pity. A genetic mutation of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc is a white grape that occasionally, when growing, shows signs of its popular parent. (The plant will bear white grapes, year after year, and then suddenly, without warning, it'll pop up with a cane of red fruit, on the same rootstock one year.)
Found in major wine regions around the world, including Burgundy and Champagne, where it is one of the permitted grapes, Pinot Blanc is also found in Canada's own Okanagan Valley.
