Every time I serve this wine at dinner parties, people go wild for it. They drink a bottle. Then another.
And before I know it, I've gone through at least three or four bottles. (Keep in mind we throw big dinner parties. It's not unusual to have 18-20 people at our house on a Saturday night.)
Anyway, yes, this organic Cinsault blend is always a hit with people. Silky smooth tannins, lots of great berry notes and just a hint of mild spiciness makes it a winner. Uncomplicated and satisfying, it is, simply, delicious.
All the grapes are organic and hand-picked from vineyards located in Pays d'Herault, part of the Languedoc-Roussillon along the Mediterranean coast.
There's a Le Fruit Defendu rosé, too, but we haven't found it yet in our market.
Best pairings for the red so far: a slow-roasted lamb dish with a tomato sauce and plain ol' roast chicken with potatoes, aioli and herbs. About $18.
